This is if the Chiefs sign Andy Reid to be the next Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. There is an article on pro footballl talk about Reid wanting to bring in Donovan McNabb and Pat Shurmur.
At first, I didnt like the idea, but the more I thought about it...as long as they draft a QB high, it may be a perfect fit. Chiefs draft Geno Smith and he learns from McNabb. If he pulls a Russell Wilson and dominates training camp and pre-season he could start with McNabb mentoring him. If Geno struggles and needs more time...You have a veteran proven QB, wbo is surrounded with an improved offensive line and elite running back.
I cant see Vick or even Alex Smith coming to a team who could be picking a QB with the first pick.
I could see McNabb joining his buddy Reid and be enticed by our overall offense ...depending on the Chiefs signing Dwayne Bowe.
I understand McNabb is older, but look at what Peyton Manning did for the Broncos. I know McNabb is not in the same league as Manning, but he coukd be a great transition to Geno Smith.
Geno is not on the same level as Luck, RG3 and Wilson according to scouts . This franchise can't afford to just hand over the reigns to a young kid who could struggle with the transition to the NFL
This may fix that and be a win/win for all....it would also excite the fan base a little.
Sign And Reid...bring in Pat Shurmur to run the offense. ...Sign McNabb...draft Geno Smith and then another QB in the 4th round or so. ..have all 3 compete and let McNabb be the mentor. ..
EIf the Chiefs come out of the gate awesome with McNabb. .then perfect...if he starts to show his age. ..hand over the reigns to Geno and let him do his thing. This all sounds like a classic Chiefs move to me as well. What do you guy's think of this very possible scenario?
