We have some KC Chiefs coaching news. Some very big KC Chiefs coaching news. According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the Kansas City Chiefs will interview former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid.
It was believed that Reid, who was fired by the Eagles on Monday, was nearing a deal with the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday night. Reports since then have slowed that train down.
According to Mort, the Chiefs will interview Reid in Philadelphia on Wednesday.
Reid will then travel to Arizona to interview with the Cardinals.
If he gets to Arizona...
The Chiefs president, Mark Donovan, comes from Philadelphia, which is notable. Donovan is one of the leaders in the Chiefs organization.
The only two reported coaching candidates for the Chiefs so far are from Atlanta -- Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter and special teams coach Keith Armstrong. Those interviews supposedly took place in Atlanta this week.
Clark Hunt, not GM Scott Pioli, is running the interview process.
The next head coach will have a say in the future of Pioli. If it's Reid, it's hard to imagine a scenario where Pioli sticks around.
So ... thoughts on Andy Reid interviewing in Kansas City?
