As we enter the 2013 Kansas City Chiefs season with a new GM and head coach, there are quite a few glaring needs we need to tackle in free agency and the draft. I welcome the new hire of John Dorsey as GM and Andy Reid as head coach. We'll see about Pederson and Sutton, pretty skeptical on those hires.
The most important task is filling the loss of starting cornerbacks Brandon Carr and Stanford Routt. Without a top tier CB to play alongside Brandon Flowers, we're going to get burned this year. Sam Shields, Chris Houston and Greg Toler stick out as names worth considering in free agency.
Secondly, we need to get rid of Brady Quinn and RIck Stanzi and pick up a free agent and draft a QB to roll with Matt Cassel. I believe Matt Cassel is a great leader that can help groom whatever QB we end up drafting, and we can also have a safety net added through free agency. I like the idea of drafting Geno Smith at #1. Problem is, outside of Matt Moore, there really isn't a whole lot out there in free agency. Our best gamble is the draft for the QB position.
Our wide receiver core, which I originally thought was one of the strongest in the league, has shown weaknesses. I think having Baldwin and Bowe on the same roster is a mistake, since they are essentially the same player (slow & big). We need to go after some speed receivers in the draft and consider going after Victor Cruz, Greg Jennings and Mike Wallace in free agency.

Other positions of need will include LT depending on if Brandon Albert decides to leave or not. Rodney Hudson should be back at center, but it would be a good idea to draft a backup center to be safe. Starting Lilja last year was one of the worst coaching decisions in Chiefs history. We could also use a solid DT, DB depth and a hard nosed FB.
What do you guys think is the biggest need coming into the 2013 season?
