Everybody knows about Geno Smith by now or has at least heard the name. There is much speculation that KC will take him number one overall. Many people have thier own opions in which they are entitled to. The question is, What about taking another QB?
Last year the Washington Redskins took a guy by the name of Kirk Cousins with the 102nd pick in the 2012 NFL draft. This came as a surprise seeing how they gave up a fortune to get a player by the name of Robert Griffen III. A lot of people questioned this at the time, but by the end of the season this seemed like one of the smartest things that franchise had done. Now there are rumors of Cousins being traded to other teams for a pick or picks higher than a 4th round pick (The round Cousins' was taken).
So lets say Kansas City takes Geno Smith this April, They have the first overall pick so they won't have to give up anything for a QB. They are in prime posistion to take a QB 1st overall if the brass feels thats the way to go. But should they add more? One name that comes to mind is EJ Manuel. If you look at Cousins' and Manuel's stats from their senior year they are very similar. Both threw for over 3300 yds, over 20 tds, and 10 ints.
We could look at stats all day, but the real question is. How would you feel if the KC brass did something like this. I know some will say we have bigger needs than another QB, but thats how many felt in Washington when they drafted Cousins. Plus what if Geno Smith is a bust. Would you feel more comforatable having another guy ready to give a shot?
There are pros and cons to either way you look at it. What I am curious is, What do other Chiefs fans think about it... Please leave a comment and let me know your opion!
