Observations and Expectations

This happened last night watching the Utah/Utah State game, when it was tied up and before I fell asleep, and I was so frustrated seeing the lack of down-the-field passing attempts. This college game reminded me of our team from the past. I hope and assume and expect that our new OC Coach Daboll will at least try to get some plays going that keeps the Falcons honest in their secondary and doesn't try to crowd the line of scrimmage every play. Sure we are going to run the ball, have play action off it, but we gotta throw deeper than we did in the past as those little dink passes won't be to fruitful.

Another thing I expect to see is our Special Teams playing better in every facet of the game. Face it, our talent is better than ever and if those guys want playing time they have to excel on the special teams. I think I even saw some inkling of this in preseason observations, so I am expecting some stellar play from this unit.

Even though we have some hardships to overcome defensively, it isn't unexpected as the players involved in injury and suspension where known about well before opening day and has been planned for. Excepting DJ and if he plays-hopefully- then we should be that much stronger within the game plan that has been developed. I just don't see the disaster that some do as we are a deeper team and will be better off with Elam than that cat Sabby playing safety. Some are screaming about Jalil looking terrible, but I saw it different and still have high hopes for him as he keeps developing and gaining experience.

The thing I am most interested in is the game within the game. This is for RAC and the crew of coaches to make those adjustments in game that gives us opportunity. We will get to see first hand if RAC really is a Head Coach or not. If a player is under performing will he get benched for another guy? Yes I'm alluding to Studie and some of our questionable guys coming into the game with performance concerns due to injury. Will we go for first downs on fourth down plays when necessary? Will we be in the hurry up/no huddle more often which seems to suit our QB? Will Dex become Matt's go to guy of choice? Will we see an identity emerge, an attitude that permeates good football teams?

If you haven't noticed, I am ready for this new adventure of the 2012 season. We have made some strides talent wise and in the coaching department. Now it begins anew, and all the talk is over. We will get to be enthralled by this team in the Show Me State as they not only get to put on a show at Arrrowhead, but Show us that they have indeed arrived! Go CHIEF'S!!!!
