I was going through the game last night and right at the end something struck me. I looked at it, looked at it again, and couldn't believe what I saw. It looks to me like the refs blew a ball spot in overtime on the Chiefs' final drive, and no one even noticed.
Not the refs. Not the Chiefs. Not the Saints. I could be wrong, but here's the evidence. Take a look and see what you think.
2nd and 3 from the Saints' 20 in overtime.
The Chiefs run Charles left and if you ask me his knee is down short of the first-down marker. If not his knee, CERTAINLY his elbow.
Nevertheless, on the next snap the ball is spotted on the 17.
It looks to me like Jamaal was EASILY short of that marker and the refs blew it, and no one noticed. I guess he COULD have rolled over the tackler and not touched the ground, but I don't see it.
It's rather pointless since the Chiefs were in field goal range anyway, but still kind of disturbing.
Have I gone completely insane or is there something to this?
