The injury to Dexter McCluster could cause some problems for the Kansas City Chiefs. They're equipped to handle an injury at that position but like most injuries it's not ideal.

Two names pop up when it comes to replacing him: Steve Breaston and Jon Baldwin.

Many people think Breaston is a regular slot guy because he's a little smaller and quicker but he's not. He regularly plays on the outside -- but that doesn't mean he can't play in the slot.

"There are differences," Breaston said on Monday, "but you've got to be able to play all the positions to be able to get onthe field and things like that. I'm just there and I'm ready and whenever they call upon me, just be ready and go out there and not let there be a drop off in the receiving unit."

We don't have a Baldwin quote on replacing McCluster but I imagine it would be very similar to Breaston's -- whatever the coaches need him to do.

Devon Wylie is another candidate but he's been banged up. Romeo Crennel noted that he was a rookie when he was asked about him which suggests he may not be ready for that role quite yet. It is only his third NFL week, after all.

If it's up to me, I would choose Breaston. Baldwin fits better on the outside and can become a vertical threat. The shorter passing game across the middle seems to be a better fit for Breaston.

We'll find out as soon as today what the prognosis on McCluster is.
