Arizona Cardinals fans are a lot like the Kansas City Chiefs fans in that they expect their team to do well this season. That's actually how every NFL fan base feels at this time of year, which is one of the reasons the NFL is so great -- every team feels like they have a chance at the beginning of the year.

I talked with Jess Root from our Cardinals blog, Revenge Of The Birds, and asked what we should know about the Cardinals offense. His response sounds a lot like what Chiefs fans would say -- the potential to be very good is there.

Oh. There is this player that will make some plays. Wears number 11, last name Fitzgerald.

Heard of him. But for real...

The truth is that the offense has the potential to be very, very good because of the skill positions. The quarterback and offensive line play will be the key. If you get to see Ryan Williams play and run the ball, get ready to see something special. The kid had an injury that is really hard to recover from as a running back, but there is just something about him that makes you think he is going to be great.

If you thought the Chiefs quarterback situation was questionable...well, look at the Cardinals. They're in the midst of a legit quarterback competition where there is no favorite. Kevin Kolb has the big money but he's been injured in his brief Arizona career and there's no guarantee he'll win this job.

We''ll see tomorrow night what a real quarterback competition looks like as Kolb is expected to play, despite a rib/chest injury, according to Cards coach Ken Whisenhunt.
