Wow, what a turn out of fans for the Chiefs Family Fun Day! This is the third training camp held in St. Joe, the third I've attended, and I can't remember the crowds ever being so large. Obviously, optimism is high for this year's team and I would say with the talent level, expectations are high as well. Either way, I'd like to send a huge shout out to fans who've braved the heat and made the trip to St. Joe to support the team. From tweets I've seen, I believe the players really appreciate it too.
Anyway, on to the pics!
Wide Receiver - Jeremy Horne (my apologies, I can't make out the defender)
Devon "Jackrabbit" Wylie fielding a kickoff.
Big Dontari Poe manhandling an offensive lineman. It's hard to tell who he's mugging here, but I think it's Luke Patterson. Prior to this pic he stopped Peyton Hillis twice for little to no gain. I'm hoping by week 8 of the season the light has really come on for him and he's making some big plays for the Chiefs D.
Dexter McCluster with a touchdown catch on Eric Berry. It's hard to say what role Dex is going to play for this team, but I will say he's constantly creating separation and scoring TD's in red zone situations.
Inside linebackers Derrick Johnson and Javon Belcher catching a breather.
Matt Cassel just gets the ball out before Tamba eats his lunch. If he had been wearing a blue 18 jersey, I'm pretty certain Tamba would have killed him.
Chandler Fenner with the coverage on Jeremy Horne - incomplete.
Brandon Siler and rookie, Dexter Heyman, working on linebacker drills.
Travis Daniels in DB drills.
Rookie DB, DeQuan Menzie, showing off his levitation skills.
Rookie DB, Dominique Ellis.
Jalil Brown with the coverage on Jon Baldwin - incomplete.
Donald Stephenson is a big, big man.
Jon Baldwin for the touchdown!
Javier Arenas fielding a kickoff.
Allen Bailey on Tyson Jackson in defensive line drills.
Mikail Baker with the coverage on Josh Bellamy.
For the ladies and the die-hard, true blooded 'mericans, here's your token Ricky Stanzi "Sunshine" shot for the day.
Rookie running back, Cyrus Gray, gets loose for a nice gain.
Matt Cassel to Shaun Draughn.
Jerrell Powe trying to get a paw on a Brady Quinn pass that went for a touchdown. Later I overheard Brady telling Jerrell he should have drank his EAS Myoplex.
And with that, "now I'm done." Hope you enjoy. GO CHIEFS!!!
