To no one's surprise the Kansas City Chiefs have named Brady Quinn as the team's No. 2 quarterback, according to the KC Star's Adam Teicher. He was competing with Ricky Stanzi for the backup job and through three games it was clear Quinn was leading the race.

Stanzi did not play in the all-important (or not) third preseason game last Friday night against the Seattle Seahawks.

Quinn's no Pro Bowler but he did outplay Stanzi in three preseason games.

Quinn: 17-of-29, 195 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception
Stanzi: 5-of-11, 66 yards, 0 touchdowns, 1 interception

We're assuming this means that Quinn will be the first one off the bench when the Chiefs meet the Green Bay Packers in Thursday's preseason finale.

Crennel was asked today how long the No. 2 quarterback would play on Thursday and he said, "Part of the way. I don't know if he'll go the rest of the way or not. It's going to depend onhow long Matt goes and the situation in the game."
