He still stares at one guy. It makes no difference how many weapons you have when you look at only one of them each play (the primary receiver) before dumping it off. I know the line did not play well last night but even when they did protect him I never saw his head move. His throw behind Moeoki should never even happened because he took off running when no defender was close to him. Watch that play (or any other) and you'll see why every week so far in pre-season one receiver is the hot guy. Dexter one week when noone hardly catches a ball, the next week Boss goes off and noone else does anything, Mariani the next week and so forth. Where has Breaston been, he doesn't all of the sudden suck. Boss goes from a ton of targets to one (which had 4 defenders around him in the end zone last night) and it seems like when someone does catch a ball he is going to be targeted the next 3 times in a row.
I like Matt Cassel. He is a leader, a hard worker, and a good man. But does anyone ever help him with this, or is it simply covered up by the coaches and Pioli in the same way last nights announcers did. They made excuses for Matt all night. Dropped passes? Yes. Dropped passes that would have made ANY difference? No. Leaving the pocket when he has no pressure? Anyone get the new (if it's offered yet) game film view from the endzones being offered? If so, please share your thoughts as you look for open receivers that were never seen. Fantasy footballlers should definitely take JC- he's gonna catch 100 balls.
Like I said, Cassel would be a great backup because he is ONLY a system QB that throws a good ball to the primary receiver when he is open. As long as the play-call is good, he will be good. That's a perfect backup.
