Previewing the Kansas City Chiefs roster as we prepare for the 2012 training camp schedule. The offensive line...

The offensive line:

Lots to sort through here so let's stick with what we know. Albert and Winston are your starters at left and right tackle, respectively. Hudson takes over for Casey Wiegmann at center. Asamoah and Lilja are your starting guards. Allen could push Lilja for a starting job. Stephenson is a draft pick who will compete with Mims for the swing tackle spot. With the exception of Mims, I feel good about all those guys making the team. The rest of them will be sorted out during training camp. [Update: Tony Ugoh was just signed. He'll be competing for that swing tackle spot.]

You can count on...Eric Winston making a huge difference. Winston replacing Barry Richardson is one of the biggest upgrades at any position in football this offseason. He was the big missing piece along the Chiefs line which makes them significantly better.

The big question mark...Is it Lilja or Allen? Both will be competing for the same job. Based on past history, we'd expect Lilja to hold the job down this year before making way for Allen next year. But don't count Allen out. This could be an interesting battle.

Random notes:
  • Winston was a surprise cap casualty from the Texans this offseason.
  • This will be Hudson's first year starting
  • Albert, Asamoah, Hudson and Allen are all Chiefs draft picks.
  • Donald Stephenson is from Blue Springs (where he probably got worked over by Rockhurst in high school)
