You won the division and a playoff game

Because of a gimmicky offense that the NFL wasn’t ready for and a gifted leader with a unique set of skills that rallied your team around him and spearheaded a dangerous rushing attack (made dangerous by his gifts).

Now, that gifted leader and his unique skills are gone, so the entire nature of the team has shifted.

Dawkins is gone.

Champ’s another year older (and don’t lie, you know as well as I do he’s slowed down slightly each of the last two years. He’s due for his “Ty Law” dropoff right about now),

Your offensive line is a question mark, ranking 24th in the league in pass blocking last year despite hardly having to do it in the second half of the season.

Your RBs range from “maybe OK without Tebow” to “awful,”

Your best two receivers COMBINED for as many yards as Bowe last year (despite Bowe being “held back” by Cassel and Palko)

Your best LB not named Miller is suspended to start the season

Your defensive tackles are Ty Warren’s corpse and a rookie.

Your DE opposite Doom is a pathetic waste of a draft pick.

Your safeties are the definition of “meh” with a slight chance of “oh, crap.”

Your most significant FA signing is a 36-year-old QB who is coming off a year not playing football, a serious injury (or whatever you want to call it), and who in his last year playing had his lowest QB rating since 2003.

But yeah, I smell SB…
