Let me start by saying I love everything I have read about this guy. A small high school guy that college recruiters looked at his stats said he was a small school guy and ignored, and then a small college that pro scouts looked saw the stats and said wow but he is a small school guy and ignored... Small school means he will need some time but this is a great signing.
That being said..... THE FRICKEN MEDIA IS SOOO LAZY WITH THE 82.6 completion %!!!! The first thing I said was WOW that is impossible.. Then I wondered how good his % was his RS-Sr. season... Found the %s here http://www.profootballweekly.com/prospects/player/alex-tanney-11/
Hmmm 71.5%, Sr season... 60.9% (2 games), Jr season 70%, Soph season 68.8%, Fresh season 64%....
So now, I am like how the #$%^ is it possible to get 82.6% when the best season was 71.5%?? So I go to the Monmouth college stats...

2008

2007

I plugged the numbers into excel starting from 2007 until I finished with 2011.
I used the Sum function to add completes and attempts and divided the completes by the attempts and WTF!!!! I got 82.6%. How the fuck did I get the same numbers advertised?
So I divided each season to double check each season to see what I was missing. And I found the mistake....
In his freshman year of 2007 according to the stats provided by the college.... He completed 155% of his passes. They flipped the completions with the attempts.
His real % is 68.6% and everyone is reporting the 82.6% number like a bunch of lazy trucks. Including the Chiefs only media stooge apparently and AP. Maybe that is the number some scout gave Pioli as well, without mentioning that it included a 155% as a true freshman.
