Twitter was down for like 20 minutes earlier today and I felt like I didn't know what to do. Shows you how reliant I've become on Twitter.
Anyway, upon Twitter's revival, I noticed this tweet from @JoelFleetwood:
Remember when Larry Johnson had a monster year, then held out, and the Chiefs rewarded him with a huge contract? 2012 is the last year of that deal
Wow. He's right. In 2007 LJ had one year left on his contract and that July signed a five-year extension worth $45 million and a reported $19 million guaranteed (but only guaranteed if you didn't, um, insult the head coach and the fans on Twitter. Or use homophobic slurs on Twitter. Or use homophobic slurs to local reporters.)
That was one of those deals where it seemed like half the people immediately called it out as a bad deal so it wasn't necessarily one of those hindsight is 20/20 things.
Can you imagine if LJ was still a Chief? Crazy to think about.
