I was one of those people who a few months ago predicted the contract situation between Dwayne Bowe and the Kansas City Chiefs would get ugly. Receivers have a reputation as being divas and so I took that blanket statement and applied it to Bowe and figured he (and the Chiefs) would have a public contract battle.
To this point, I've been wrong. Very wrong. Bowe, nor the Chiefs, have really said anything about their contract (other than what Bowe told me last month about his contract). It hasn't been ugly at all.
For that, we should be thankful...because it could be a lot different.
Take the Percy Harvin situation for example. He's upset with the Vikings and reportedly requested a trade, later saying it has nothing to do with money. This caused the Vikings to come out and publicly state they have no intention of trading him.
Harvin's trade request has created a story line that likely won't be going anywhere this season. It's a distraction that the team will have to deal with all season.
While we all want the Bowe situation resolved we should remember that, so far, Bowe is going about it the right way, as are the Chiefs.
