Introducing the starting Tight End, Kevin Boss

Wow, Kevin Boss, ex-raider is the starter at TE over our beloved Tony Moeaki? You betcha! Why you ask? Well for me it is an obvious leap. Yes, I know you do not lose your spot as a starter on the roster because of injury, and our boy was injured last season so should be the starter over the recently signed free agent Kevin Boss. But from outside looking in, that old mantra of keeping your spot if injured isn't set in stone. I especially don't think it applies to a Pioli team as the competition is designed to figure out who is the best to put on the field any given Sunday.

Back to a few reasons that Boss will be starting. Firstly is the money involved. Do you really think Pioli and company are going to pay a guy 3 million bucks to be a back up TE? I don't, and you cannot convince me otherwise. Besides which our new TE has been proving himself to be a very capable starting TE for awhile now, while Tony M. hasn't. Sure he had an exemplary rookie first year and we all expect big things from him. This may even end up being a blessing in disguise for Moeaki as his career could be lengthened by not having to be on the field so much, avoiding injury which seems to have become associated with him.

Please don't misunderstand me, I think Tony is an exceptionally talented player who may one day be the starter again. But in this new system that comes with Pioli and crew, being a starter may not be as big a deal as some believe. Hells Bells, in Coach Daboll's offense we might see 2 TE's starting the game anyhow and it becomes a moot point. It probably depends on who we play and that could even determine who gets the nod to start at the position with neither being crowned starter by the team.

I will say that it is a very good thing for us fans and the team to have this situation. Having competent players who can be plugged in various situations that have to have the opposing defenders and coaches aware of their abilities to make plays. Anyhow, it is shaping up to be an exciting time here in the Chief's Kingdom and I don't recall that I have had such good hope for a season in decades. Go Chief's!!!
