Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel gave an update on a few of the injured Chiefs, as well as the lone signed player who missed Tuesday's practice.
In his own words, here's what Crennel said about the injured and missing Chiefs following the first day of mandatory minicamp.
S Eric Berry: "Gosh almighty. I missed him, too. No, he has a family issue he's dealing with and that's why he's not here."
Hopefully this isn't a big deal and Berry's OK. He's not practicing anyway so as far as on-the-field is concerned his absence has little effect. We'll see if he returns on Wednesday.

TE Martin Rucker: "We know Martin Rucker, the situation with Martin. And he might have to have surgery."
Nothing new here. He still hasn't been waived/injured or put on IR but it sounds like his season is most likely over following an ACL injury.
WR Devon Wylie: "Then, Wylie, he pulled a ham[string] Friday and he didn't work today."
As Adam Teicher noted in the Star today, the knock on Wylie coming out of college was injuries. Hopefully this is just a minor hamstring deal but Crennel did mention it happened on Friday, so this is a five day injury to this point.
S De'Quan Menzie/RB Cyrus Gray: "We have Menzie, he's working. Gray is working. So we feel good about that."
Both of these guys missed the majority of OTAs, returning in the final week. Menzie has a couple of injuries he's dealing with, some from his time at Alabama. Gray reportedly had a hamstring issue but appears to be fine now.
LB Brandon Siler: "Siler was able to do some individual stuff today so that's a good sign as well."
That's pretty huge, actually. Siler's the forgotten man, at least he is for me. He could potentially play a role on the defense this year, whether that's as the top reserve linebacker or beating out LB Jovan Belcher for the starting role next to LB Derrick Johnson. He tore his Achilles' early in training camp last year and is the first ACL/Achilles guy from last year to return.
Crennel didn't mention the rest of the injured guys, which includes TE Tony Moeaki and RB Jamaal Charles. Neither player participated on Tuesday, same as the entire offseason. Looks like Berry and those two will be eyeing training camp as the target date. They will be examined on June 18 to get cleared for camp.
Also not participating, like he hasn't all offseason, is Kendrick Lewis. He's recovering from shoulder and pectoral injuries. Lewis has been banged up throughout his career, which is probably part of the reason Abe Elam was brought in for depth.
The final non-participant was OL Rob Bruggeman, who was assaulted in Des Moines last weekend.
