A former Iowa football player and current Kansas City Chiefs player was assaulted early Sunday morning in Des Moines, Iowa, according to the Des Moines Register. Police tell the paper that Rob Bruggeman, a member of the Chiefs offensive line, was assaulted around 1:50 a.m.
It sounds like an unprovoked attack:
Officers said they saw Castro-Cortez shove Bruggeman. When Bruggeman turned around, Castro-Cortez allegedly punched him in the face.
Police who saw the incident said the attack was unprovoked. Bruggeman had a cut to his upper lip and complained of pain around his nose and mouth.
The man accused of hitting Bruggeman was charged with assault causing bodily harm, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. That man also has some balls considering Bruggeman is listed at 6'4" and 293 pounds. That's a big man.
Bruggeman played college football at Iowa. He spent time on the practice squads of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons before joining the Chiefs.
