Three years ago I created a Fanpost shortly after the acquisition of Matt Cassel. Everyone was starving for a quaterback (much like today still) and most Chiefs fans were excited to finally get a potential quality quarterback who had potential to be around for awhile.
Obviously the Cassel experiment hasn't been as successful as we would have hoped, but I would like to revisit the poll I created in 2009 which overwhelmingly supports Cassel having a decently successful career with the Chiefs. Currently Cassel has 7753 passing yards in his career with the Chiefs but his leash as a starter is getting very short.
Is there still a shot he can surpass Trent Green's yardage? He will likely never be the caliber of quarterback that Green was but if he starts another 5 or 6 years with the Chiefs (scary thought) he could surpass that total still. I know the majority of fans don't want him here but is it possible Pioli and the Chiefs will stick with him for that long if he goes on to be an average-above average quarterback over the next couple of years?
2009 Poll

77% Matt Cassel 89 votes
