My Stats Genie has these numbers on Ryan. These are stats from the 6 Games which falcons lost in 2011 Regular Season. Its too painful to even talk about the playoff game in terms of hits and sacks. QB Hits+ Sacks: 53 Total Passing Attempts minus spikes and Penalties: 272. QB Hit+ Sack Rate: Approximately 1/5 passes. Key stat: Matt Ryan was hit 9 times in the HOU game compared to just 1 sack. Matt Ryan was hit ( does not include QB pressures) once in every 5 snaps in those 6 games. I agree with Cossell about Ryan should escape more, but I guess tendency for a QB who is getting hit frequently is to throw the ball away as soon as possible before fumbling the ball or throwing an interception. Before we jump on Sam Baker or LT, the problem was through out the OL including Tyson Clabo who allowed 11 Hits on Ryan in those 6 games. In 2010 Ryan was 3rd best QB under pressure, however he took a step back in 2011. How do Falcons fix this, I don’t know. I hope MS and DK know what they are doing, if Ryan gets hit like this in 2012, he might not even last full season.
