Chiefs Visiting With Another SEC Safety

Stay connected for news and updates

The Kansas City Chiefs continue to show interest in various prospects before the 2012 NFL draft and one of those guys is Brandon Taylor, safety out of LSU. Aaron Wilson of Scout.com reports that the Chiefs will host Taylor on a visit to Kansas City. Also on the visit list is the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins.

Taylor has a lot of things the Chiefs like. He's experienced as a three-year starter at a school with some of the best competition in the country. He played in the SEC, which the Chiefs love, and he's also a team captain, which the Chiefs also love. He's also coming off of a leg injury, which means he could dip a little bit in the draft -- in other words, a potentially good value for the Chiefs.

He's projected as a fifth or sixth rounder by NFL Draft Scout. He's listed at 5'11" and 209 pounds.

If the Chiefs draft Taylor, ideally he never sees the field. The Chiefs already have a pair of SEC safeties that are pretty good and who we'd like to remain on the field.
