The value system, it's not science

Every year about this time so many of us want to find gold, Hall of Fame or Pro Bowl players in the draft. Too many are spellbound by different mock drafts and evaluations. There are many, and a few were discussed somewhat last night on the AP radio show. Key to this is understanding that it is all opinions generated by folks, some with NFL experience in scouting and some not, who are not currently employed by any team. So your opinion is based on others opinion that have nothing in common with your teams opinion on players. It is all good science, don't you think?

Not to long ago it was discussed what Pioli looked for talent wise in the first 3 rounds. Something he said in an interview. It all pretty much boiled down to finding good football players. Seems to me we get all involved with a guy and want to defend him as the next coming of (insert your favorite football hero here). It's also pretty apparent Scotty gleans most of his opinions from watching tape of players who have been identified by his scouts. Yes , Scotty was on the ground floor when Bellichik developed his system of determining players skills and then their value to his team. It has been shown to successful, but has had it's share of busts as well. More good science, right?

This a really fun time of year for most of us as we want to see our team succeed by drafting the "best" of the talent available. We guess at the teams wants and needs, although sometimes it's readily apparent to all what the needs are. So please, take your best guess-more science, and have fun while not taking yourself to seriously. Since our team is getting so close to being really good with the roster we now have, this draft could go in a half-dozen different directions. And with Scott Pioli calling the shots, we could pick anyone in the top 40 that he takes a shine to as the gap in talent isn't that great between 11 and 40. So keep guessing, as will I, enjoy the ride that is known as being a Chief's Fan!!!

P.S. by my scientific method, more good science, we take a good football player with our first pick whenever that occurs as a trade may happen. Har har har!
