Double Trouble? what the hell, wasn't that the late great Stevie Ray Vaughn's group? Yep, it was, and I can brag about seeing them in Red Rocks outside of Denver, superb music and setting. But I digress, what is on tap in this post is football, and in particular a couple of players the Chief's have with similar skill sets, and how they might be used. This question was on my mind, more than any other after this draft. In fact I went to sleep thinking on it.
Wylie and McCluster are the 2 players that had me wondering. Why-o-Why would Scotty bring in another guy who has so many of the same skills as Dex? Hmmmm, add Coach Brian Daboll into the mix and the intrigue gets stronger. Is this innovation, perhaps a new trend in the NFL going to appear before our eyes? When I was a younger man, we called these guys Scat Backs. Rarely have I witnessed 2 at the same time. I think as close as I can remember is the Dolphins with Mark Clayton and Mark Duper, who set the league on it's nose with Dan Marino firing the ball to them.
Double Trouble for a defense to game plan against with both in the game at the same time? Put one in motion before the play kicks off and the pressure mounts on a defense. Hell, the pressure is already there cause of match up problems with these shifty little guys. There are so many ways to utilize these guys in special sets to keep the defense on it;s heels it's truly scary. If Daboll is truly good at the job as reported and has an innovative idea to use these two at the same time, whoa-lookout! Just a thought, what do you think? Go Chief's!!!!
