Guys, Every single Pioli draft has created the same gut wrenching feelings for me. Take a look.
1. Last year, when there were 75,000 awesome defensive ends and tackles on the board and every mock draft seemed to claim that was the target position for the chiefs-- What does Pioli do? He trades the pick!!! During those 45 minutes between pick 21 and pick 26, I remember feeling like we just missed our shot. I thought Pioli messed up. Then we pick commonly assumed 2nd rounder Justin Baldwin in the first round! The feelings of doubt and sickness get stronger. I thought for sure we would pick up Justin Houston in the second round--but we passed. The sick feeling starts me gagging. By the end of the draft, I examine the new players and how they will potentially fit together and all i can say is Good Job Pioli! 2) Two years ago I think many people had the same reaction to both of our 2nd round picks. In hindsight, I like having the real DMC and Arenas. 3) I guess, what I am saying is that I appreciate a GM that has a plan. Even If I don't understand or see the larger picture at times. I have no reason to think Pioli is Al Davis. No signs of Pioli becoming a stupid GM. In fact, I think everything seems to be pointing in the other direction. Glad we have Pioli. I will learn to root for Poe, and maybe he does turn into a nose tackling beast!
