The Kansas City Chiefs have made their first pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. With the No. 11 pick, the Chiefs select Memphis nose tackle Dontari Poe.
From Mocking the Draft:
It's hard to dislike Poe's size and natural athleticism for such a big player. He's not just a guy who plays to occupy space and blockers. When Poe gets moving, he's light on his feet and isn't necessarily a fat 350 pounds.
A team captain at Memphis, Poe visited with the Chiefs prior to the draft. Finally, a victory for the Chiefs draft interests table. I'm a bit ambivalent towards this pick. Nose tackles are theoretically always a position of need for 3-4 defenses but Poe's three defensive coordinators in three years leaves me feeling uneasy. Romeo Crennel has his work cut out for him.
Much more to come. Quick reactions to Dontari Poe to the Chiefs?
