WOW! NOT ANOTHER TRADE BOWE SCENARIO, really? Why not I ask of you? What is a puzzling aspect to some of us is how come he is not here long termed already. The case could be made he wants to go, we just don't know, and until we do, these sorts of speculative posts will be around. What brought this on was a thought that the Browns want TRich, the Bama RB, and he gets taken by either the Rams or Bucs who have traded ahead. The Brownies don't need a CB, not sold on Blackmon or Khalil this high, and have let it be known that the pick is up for grabs.
Enter Scotty Pioli, who has a hard time delivering a long term, high dollar contract to a WR who isn't the true #1 deep threat that he covets. He could replenish in the draft with the latter first with an eye to the Georgia Tech burner and with the first take either of the top talents with that early pick. But which one? Both Khalil and Clairborne have merit. Even I, who have a strong want for a swing tackle, and not truly convinced that I want to have the fourth overall pick riding the pines. This gives me pause when a CB of the caliber that Morris is is sitting there ripe for the plucking.
Interestingly enough, there are several other prospect that Pioli thinks well enough of to complicate matters that by not trading up will still bring in good talent. But none in the same mold of Clairborne who is almost on par with Berry physically. Having a truly gifted stud at CB will set this team up for years to come. Unless you know that Albert is going to want out, which makes Khalil really attractive, you have to get the CB. I hate to bring the A&M QB into this conversation, but someone will, so that is also a possibility here if Pioli wants him.
In Summation, the idea of trading our Pro Bowler WR is on the table just because of the uncertainty of his returning. Regardless of the speculation around here, we just don't know if the guy resigns or not. So without that knowledge, you have to plan for worst case scenario of him leaving, so why not get something for him? A stud CB and a stud WR in the making? Go Chief's!!!!
