To me there is a general feeling among chiefs fans that the chiefs will pick Devin DeCastro, Dontari Poe, or Luke Kuechly.
DeCastro is a polished guard who has started for three years. He is considered NFL ready and could most likely step in to the starting guard role. He is one of the highest rated guards to come out of college in recent memory. Most scouts believe that he will become a Pro Bowl guard very early in his career. Adding an elite run blocking guard to the already improved offensive line and the addition of Peyton Hillis could really propel the running game to new heights.
Poe is a large large man measuring in at 6'4 346 pounds. Poe put on a show at the combine running an unprecedented 4.98 40 yard dash. He commands a double team from the nose tackle position. He is seen as a high risk high reward. Based on his combine results he should be a top 10 pick. But he never dominated while he was in College. Another risk involved with Poe is the extremely high failure rate of top draft picks at Defensive Tackle. But his elite athleticism and size would patch up the run defense
Kuechly is just the opposite of Poe he put up fantastic numbers while at Boston College. Shattering their record for tackles in a career. He is an underrated athlete and has an extremely high football IQ. In the 3-4 scheme he would fit in perfectly alongside of Derrick Johnson. He would be a major upgrade from Jovan Belcher. The linebackers are the most important group in a 3-4 system. Adding him to a group that includes Johnson and Hali creates an intimidating linebacker corps.
Personally I think Decastro is the way to go. He will step in immediately and be a pro bowl guard at a position of need.
