As the draft nears we have had some spirited discourse over who is the best prospect for the the team. Some of us even have championed certain positions and players as we think we understand the team dynamic and needs. But is it going to come down to something as simple as what needs fixed the most? Fix the Offense? Fix the Defense? When will these questions stop preying upon my mind? What do YOU think??
Outside and lookin in at the team, that's right- even though I have a KC Chief's ID Card I am not privy to the teams thought process', it is readily apparent that we have to fix the Offense first and foremost. OK already, I went to training to be an Usher in mid 90's and haven't been able to part with an old ID Card. This offense of ours averaged less than 2 TD's and Extra Points a game so it HAS to be the primary fix, right? Maybe so, but not so fast!
The Defense is the engine that wins games for us. Just think about it, our Head Coach is a defensive guru and to keep him appeased we have to draft more guys for his baby. Defense wins Championships! We have to improve on it to shut down the other teams production so our own anemic offense can score just enough to win. Man-o-Man my B.S, Detector just started pinging LOUD!
Truthfully I ain't gotta clue as to what Scotty does. The offense was given some pieces in Free Agency that may get it to a place that it is NOT a hindrance to the team's fortunes. Maybe the biggest change of all is a Offensive Coordinator that has shown an ability to get plays in to his QB before the play clock buzzez. To put it plainly, I ain't got a clue, DO YOU?
I forgot to mention that we will trade back so we can get a Special Teamer!!!! Seriously, the truth is we are getting close to having a well stocked team and without the need to address a big need we will get some good players. Scotty has shown that he is a good judge of talent, some hasn't worked out as well as we want, but this roster is so much better now than before. We have nothing to lose if he goes either Offense or Defense, and we shouldn't get to wrought up about our particular fanatic obsession of what the team does, as it's only a game that helps pass the time. Go Chief's!!!!!
