So here I am sitting in my parents basement...thinking about how I got into the NFL Draft.

So, here I am trying to figure out if I really want to make a Fanshot er...a Fan Post of just random thoughts that have been coming to me over the past few weeks. This time of year had been full of hope for the new Chiefs year. The first year I really, REALLY got into the draft was in 2005. I was supposed to be headed across the pond and I thought the only real Chiefs anything related for me that year was going to be the draft. I had this guy I really wanted the Chiefs to draft. His name was, Derrick Johnson. I really did not have a good reason as to why I wanted him other than some pundits saying he was a really solid choice. I KNEW that San Diego was going to select him!

I was really nervous we were going to select Thomas Davis and I was dead set against drafting him. When San Diego picked Shawn Merriman, I was ECSTATIC. I was really nervous of Carolina's pick. I did not have television in my house then. So, I was outside and when I heard our pick... I actually did cartwheels. I had no idea why but that is when I got hooked on the NFL Draft.

I am glad I am able to hide behind a handle. Because, I have a confession to make. I have skipped a couple of weddings, missed work, important meetings just to be able to watch the draft. I used to make up spreadsheets and keep track of all 250+ picks and trades just so I would be able to know the inner workings of how everything went into the draft. Now comes the really strange part of the confession. I was by myself when I did this. No person to interact and discuss picks with. I used to keep and analyze the whole draft to "grade" the draft.

I have moved up and on from that. Now, I go to my folks' house and take a couple of draft magazines. I flip back and forth between the NFL network and that other 4 letter sports news station. The most difficult thing about the draft for me is that I am not a college football fan. I don't even watch the BCS Championship game. I have tried over the years to at least watch some college football so when the draft rolls around I would know who David Decastro is. The three names I know for sure are, Luck, RGIII and some kid named Tannebaum.

I am not a fan of the new format. I liked my two day draft where I acted like I knew a LOT more than I did about football and to school "less" knowledgeable fans about what and why the Chiefs should do what they do.

So, now finally I am here to the point where we are a week away and I don't know what to do. I have to work that Saturday so I have to behave Friday night. What are your suggestions on things to do in the new draft format. I maybe will throw a draft party of some kind. But the all day extravaganza is out so I am now fishing for more ideas.

I would gladly take and and all suggestions.....

*BTW I know its not's something like Weeder or you know...
