Ponder this in the first round
Ponder this for a moment, say some how in the first round the following three players fall to the Chiefs, who do you pick?
1. Ryan Tannehill
2. David DeCastro
3. Luke Kuechly
There are pluses and minuses to all of these guys. As I've seen on Arrowheadpride, you either love Luke Kuechly or you hate him (maybe to strong of a word) but as I have seen in the limited Utube tape on the kid, he either makes the play or totally over runs it. I do like the kids work ethic, attention to detail and drive to be the best player her can be.
On the other hand you have DeCastro, and from what I have seen of the guy, he's the next can I say Will Shields?? The guy has great footwork, bends his knees well and plays smart football. On one had, the kid went to Standford, you know the guy is intellegent, he was coached by a now pro football coach which isn't bad. The only down side is he played in a PAC 10 league, which isn't the SEC, so the level of competition isn't great. I do however like the stats at the combine on the guy.
Last, Tannehill, he use to be a wide receiver, if we draft him he will be the third QB taken. What happened the last time the Chiefs drafted a QB in the first round, yeah Bill Kenny/Todd Blackledge. Just like Todd, A&M isn't exactly a QB factory and playing in a run dominated, spread offense doesn't give me a lot of confidence that this kid will be much better than just an average QB and not someone you pick with in the first round...
So Arrowhead nation, what's your take becauses this scenario is a very real possiblity...
Personally, I like DeCastro. Team him up with Hudson at Center, Ashomah at left guard, and DeCastro at right guard, and you've got the makings of an elite line for years to come. The other consideration is to play him at left guard, slide Ashomah to right guard and provide some additonal support to Albert. Either way, the kid, like Hudson can play center or guard, providing depth as well.
