In the midst of the Peyton Manning circus, I was reading a scouting report on DeCastro and was struck by the thought that he seems to have the size and ability to perhaps bounce out to RT. If that is the case, then he would be a legit target at the #11 spot and not a reach (based on the idea that you rarely draft a guard that high.) I like the idea that you let him compete at RT and see if he can win the job. If he can't, move him inside to LG.
3 things I liked in reading his report:
1. Leadership qualities. I think the Chiefs could really use this on the offensive side of the ball to fill the Brian Waters leadership role.
2. Performance. His report indicates he has been dominant.
3. Athleticism. His report indicates strong ability to pull and get to the second level successfully. Given that we have Jamal Charles and McCluster in the backfield, this is an excellent ability to have in your linemen for the screens, delayed draws, and counter plays we run.
What are you guys hearing? Can DeCastro play RT? If so, do you like the pick?
