Plan for the future and present

After a crazy stretch of NFL moves and actions, let us see how we can move our team forward without sacrificing the present. The depth of talent in this year's draft has been gauged as above average. This can be a benefit to us in a couple of different ways. First, a trade down appears to be more beneficial than in previous years, we can still pick up guys that could push for starting spots in the second round. Secondly, a trading partner would be more willing to jump up in this year’s draft to gain a player that can make a difference this year. My Planned Trade: Send our #11,#106 and Dorsey to the Rams for their #33 and #39 this year, as well as their latest 1st round pick in 2013 (RGIII trade with Washington). The Rams will add talent now with picks of #6 and #11 this year, not to mention adding Dorsey to their 4-3 Defense. The Rams could add WR Blackmon @ #6 and LT Adams @11, that would give Bradford some serious help and give their fan base an immediate benefit to their trade with Washington. Now, we are sitting at #33, #39 and #44. Due to the new format we will have plenty of leverage in trading our #33 pick. We should trade that for another 1st in 2013 and also gain a fifth rounder back this year. So this is what we could do this year with our remaining picks: R2 #39 G Kevin Zeitler-Wisconsin R2 #44 FS Markelle Martin-Oklahoma St. R3 #74 SS Brandon Taylor-LSU R5 #137 DE Jaye Howard-Florida R5 #143 CB Donnie Fletcher-Boston College R6 #170 NT Josh Chapman-Alabama R7 #201 LB Jerry Franklin-Arkansas This draft gives great competition and depth for many positions. Zeitler, Martin and Taylor all could see time early in 2012. I think we improve our team in the present, but here comes the good part. Similar to what New England does most years, we would head into the 2013 draft with some serious ammo. Over the course of 2012 we will get some answers at the QB position. Depending upon Cassel's performance, he could be out. Maybe Cassel sucks and Quinn takes over and becomes our future (on his 1 year deal). Safe to say that we exit 2012 with either Quinn or Cassel hitting the one way train. If Quinn develops and needs a new contract we will be holding a lot of options in the way of carving out cap space. With three 1st round picks, and a QBOTF in Quinn, we could let Bowe walk into FA. If Cassel and Quinn stink it up, we have three 1st round picks to move up and get Barkley.
