Why Mannings abilities still deserve respect but no longer feared.
Personally I feel Manning has done a lot for the NFL. He has been a good role model for kids as well as rookie QB's coming into the league. In the past I don't think anyone can argue this, He was one of the best QB's in the history of the NFL.
That being said, that was the past. I do not see his future looking as bright. The Colts have built there whole team around Manning. There O-line was built to be pass blockers. They really could care less about there ability to open up holes for the run. There receivers were not drafted because of there speed but rather there ability to run good routes. The Bronco's on the other hand have been trying to run the ball first and pass second. They could care less if there was a blitz coming from the oppositeside of where the ball was being run. Now they have to worry about blitz's and concentrate on there blocking assignments more. A good run O-line does not always mean good pass protection. The point I'm trying to make Is the Bronco's were not built for Mannings style of play. By the time they do build a team around Manning he will be retiring.
My second thought on Manning. In the past Manning has had time to pass. With that in mind he has been able to make a Average receiver look like a Superstar. It is my opinion that Manning purposely picked a team that lacked big names. Now if they overachieve it's all Mannings doing if they under achieve its the other players faults. With the Chiefs although he still would be the big man on the block. There would be other players that would take away from his glory. How many Denver players come to mind when you think of the Bronco's. Mcghee ( really only an average RB). Bailey ( should retire) and Dumervil. No other names jumps to mind and with that there is really no real excitement over the three I listed. Although Manning comes off as not wanting attention. he still wants the Glory from the media.
My last opinion on Manning is about his health. I work in the medical field. I have worked with many patients that have had the same surgery. I myself has had the same procedure. Most of the patients including myself have experience more problems when it is cold out. I personally doubt he is fully recovered. Be it Manning at 80% is better than most QB'sat 100%. However I think seeing the Old Manning is out, and I expect to see Manning struggle more in cold weather.
Although Manning's ability still deserves some respect. I don't think they need to be feared as in the past.
