For the 2012 NFL season that will begin in less than two weeks, teams have until Monday to designate a franchise player. For the Chiefs, that likely means WR Dwayne Bowe will get tagged. He's set to become a free agent on March 13 and progress on negotiations between Bowe and the Chiefs has not produced a contract agreement.

The current makeup of the Chiefs offensive line is in transition, but Asamoah is part of the team's core moving forward. Chiefs GM Scott Pioli expects to see second-year pro Rodney Hudson follow a similar path.

"I think he's ready to be a starter at center or guard," Pioli said of Hudson at the NFL Scouting Combine. "He's a good young player who had some time last year. One of the interesting things about Rodney that showed itself last year was his maturity and his ability to prepare."

But maybe most important for the Chiefs, after firing the offensive-minded Todd Haley and the ensuing retirement of last year's offensive coordinator, Bill Muir, they haven't yet installed a new offensive scheme. Brian Daboll, formerly of the Dolphins, is the new offensive coordinator but would be most willing to take on Manning and his entire offense.

Where's The Perfect Place For Peyton? from FOX Sports

Kansas City: This would be a similar situation to Oakland. Like he was to Darren McFadden, Bush would be a bigger, change-of-pace and injury option for Jamaal Charles, who is coming back from a torn ACL. The Chiefs have a lot of money to spend, so perhaps they'd be able to convince Bush to sign there.

Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City: With the Chiefs' recent signing of cornerback Stanford Routt, whom the Raiders released, it seems apparent Kansas City will not place the franchise tag on Brandon Carr. So Bowe is unlikely to hit the open market. The Chiefs are expected to franchise him.
