My message to the doubters STFU

Man what a ride free agency has taken us on so far. In just a few days Chief fans have morphed from depressed critics of the front office to elated drunk optimists (St. Patrick's day helped also am I the only one that hates it when people call it St. Patty's day, man it drives me nuts). While I will spend some time talking (I guess writing actually) about this recent free agent class this post will show why we must remain positive, we must have faith, and we must keep drinking (that kool-aid). For those of you questioning my use of STFU just give me a chance and follow me after the jump I just might surprise you!!

First to the doubters of Tyson "Certified Beast" Jackson STFU or Say The Facts Unerringly (ha see that I probably surprised someone). They say "he's a bust" "he's fat" "he doesn't get sacks" well its time to STFU. Let's start with "he's a bust". Tyson Jackson isn't a sexy player but he stops the run, no scratch that, he obliterates the run.

Damn... just.... damn

Tyson Jackson has rated out as one of the top run stuffing Defensive Linemen according to Pro Football Focus... but we've seen thousands of posts telling you this so if you don't believe his ability check This Post by MN (btw are you gonna do that analysis of Dex I know I'd love to read it and many others will to (also these off topic paranthetical asides were inspired by you (was that just an aside in an aside damn crazy))). As for "He's fat" yes, yes he is he is also extremely strong and a defensive end in a 3-4 that constantly takes on double teams which to put it crudely requires him to be big/fat. And finally "he doesn't get sacks". Yup you got me there that is completely unerring (hopefully I used that correctly) but he allows our backers to rush the qb by taking double teams. So time to STFU and the facts are Jackson is our best D-lineman. If these doubters really want to argue over someone they should try Glenn Dorsey where they can try the "he's playing out of position argument" even though he's playing quite effectively (although he did regress this year).

Next doubters on the list "The Front office is cheap" man STFU. Lets not even focus on our Free Agent class (that one that got us a power back, elite RT, possible competition at QB, much needed depth at TE and a replacement CB. Ya we aren't going to talk about that one) just look at who we have re-signed to long term deals Tamba Hali, Brandon Flowers, Derrick Johnson, and Jamaal Charles. Honestly, the only player that got away was Brandon Carr and I commend the Front Office for finding a replacement instead of overpaying Carr when we already have a great deal of money tied into our Secondary. Now I will give these doubters some credit, we (can I say we? I mean I have so much merchandise and am emotionally tied to the team hmm... ya I'm sticking with we) don't normally go for the big-time free agent. But throwing big money around does not equal success which is why teams like Washington and Chokeland have not been successful recently. No instead we focus on key buys like Breaston, Gregg, Gordon, Lilja, and Deep Freeze. So lets STFU, our Front Office keeps their own and picks up players that will fulfill a specific purpose without over paying for them.

Finally, the Mims doubters. Just kidding (because those don't exist) next is the Branden "Natural Position" Albert as indicated by his nickname these doubters often say "We should draft a LT and move Albert to his natural position of ________". These doubters are decreasing but every now and then you see one and honestly they anger me more than any doubter. If Albert were to ever get hurt for an extended period of time these doubters would realize how great of a tackle he is for us. In fact part of his greatness is his durability as he has only missed 4 games over 4 years and a players greatest asset (in my opinion) is availability (which is why despite great skills Bob Sanders is not mentioned with Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu). Another great thing about Branden Albert is while he is a good pass blocker (could argue great and ranked 9th in Pass Blocking Efficiency according to Pro Football Focus) he is exceptional at run blocking and getting to the second level. This is especially valuable when you consider that Kansas City is a team that... wait for it... runs the ball. Crazy I know. These doubters need to STFU and admit that Albert is a great LT that needs to be re-signed not replaced.

I know these doubters will continue to exist and evolve (for example we have the "Stanzi sucks since Palko was ahead of him on the depth chart" or the "Dexter Mccluster is terrible" doubters) but all fans can learn from them. What we can learn is that we should do some research before saying things like "Kendrick Lewis is terrible" so that even if people disagree with you you can support your opinion. Also, perhaps the greatest thing about AP is that we have so many knowledgeable fans so if you don't know, don't claim to know, just ask. So, in conclusion some advice to all my fellow APers remember before you speak up to STFU!!! Also this is only my second post so go easy on me, hopefully I made it long enough to avoid the dreaded FANSHOT!!! comment.
