I haven't posted a fanpost in awhile so I'm a little rusty so be prepared to be bored to undeath.
I have been a little caught up in other aspects of free agency so I haven't really paid attention to what we have and what we need on our offensive line. I decided to head over to the mothership and check out what our current roster looks like. Looks very good in some positions but our O line is looking very anorexic, very thin indeed. We could definitly use some beef, a couple big juicy steaks. We have no depth really.
If we had a game tomorrow we would be starting Branden Albert and the immortal one David Mims with no back ups. I'm 100% positive Mr. Mims would be fine with that but I'm not ready to put Albert through that. Asamoah and Lilja would have only Darryl Harris swapping back and forth to give them a breather. When Hudson needed a break it would be uhhhhh some guy named Rob Bruggeman. Yeah, that guy outta Iowa that I'm sure most of you have never heard of, I'm from Iowa and watch Iowa football and I don't remember him. We need depth.
We had or have Eric Winston in for a visit, we talked, we fed him, not sure where we are with him now. Probably not a basketball game I'm sure. Marcus McNeill is scheduled to visit, hopefully he makes it here, maybe they will take him to Okie Joe's. I got on nfl.com to check out the free agent tracker to see who is out there worth taking a peek at.
I'll start in the middle and work my way out so here are a few Center options-
Will Montgomery (Wash) 5th season Tony Wragge (Stl) 7th season Samson satellite I mean Satele (chOak) 5th season. Out of those three I'd rather have Satele but I don't think he would like the back up role.
Ready, set, Guards
Robert Gallery (Sea) 8th season Doug Legurski (Pit) 3rd season Chris Kemo(a e i o u and sometimes y)Kemoeatu (Pit) 7th season Deuce Lutui (Ari) 6th season. I would love to have Gallery and his mean streak come start over Lilja. I watched him through high school and college at Iowa. Wouldn't mind any of the others for depth.
Biggest need.... Tackle
Of course I want Eric Winston or McNeill but here are a few other options if they don't pan out, Anthony Collins (Cin) 4th season Max Starks (Pit) 8th season Guy Whimper (love the name) (Jac) 6th season Demetrius Bell (Buf) 3rd season. I remember Anthony Collins being a popular pick around AP when he was coming out of Kansas but he hasn't really amounted to much in Cincy, maybe a change of venue will do him some good.
We look pretty good at TE with Moeaki and Like a Boss, Rb is nice with the possibility of Tolbert joining JaCha and Hillis, heck even without him I'm liking it. WR is pretty set.
Everyone here knows we need an upgrade at QB. I'm just not sure he is out there in FA. I myself would love to see Stanzi get a shot a just dominate, if you don't like what I;m spittin.. come at me bro. I wouldn't mind seeing them bring in Josh Johnson from TB or maybe a Kellen Clemons. I'm not sure what to think about the Brady Quinn visit. I thought our aim was to get better.
Our defense looks solid so I don't really need to go in depth. Other than NT we could use some depth at ILB and S. I'd like to see what we have in Powe cause there really isn't much out there in free agency.
Well there you have it, kinda long and kinda boring probably. I tried to add some humor to it. Thanks for reading it even if you didn't make it all the way through.
