Is "The Right 53" Dead?

I debated for a while about whether this is truly a fanpost or not but couldn't really write what I wanted into a fanshot or comment so sorry if I offend. I had an argument/discussion with Kent Babb today on Twitter over Brandon Carr. His contention is that because we didn't bring him back, the Chiefs should stop talking about "The Right 53." I took to Twitter to defend the Chiefs. A transcript follows after the jump:

@kentbabb:Carr got a deal he deserved, but I think the Chiefs and their fans will be kicking themselves for years for KC not ponying up.

:@kentbabb There's a difference in not ponying up and being smart with your cap space. Other priorities + not enough money to go around.

@kentbabb: RIP, talking point of "the right 53." You were never understood and also never reached what you were supposed to be. Ashes to ashes.

: @kentbabbThe concept of "The Right 53" requires the players to buy in just as much as the management.

@kentbabb: I take it you mean this to say Carr must not have bought in? If this is your point, you know not of what you speak.

@kentbabb:Followers ripping Carr should step away from Twitter, or at least in tweets to me. One of the best, most team-oriented people I've covered.

: Not ripping Carr at all. I have tons of respect for him and am happy for his payday. Just saying he made a choice.

: Reporters ripping the Chiefs for not resigning Carr need to step away from Twitter. One player doesn't redefine your team values.

: I'll say this once and then I will step away: Fine if they couldn't make the money work. Just don't wanna hear "right 53" junk now

So I'd like to hear some discussion on this topic. Do you agree or disagree with Babb? Did the idea of "The Right 53" die when the Chiefs didn't resign Brandon Carr?
