The day before Free agency starts here is my wish list.
Continue to build on their own young pieces
Sign Bowe to a long term deal - Regardless of your views on Bowe he has proven himself to be a solid #1 receiver with an average Quarterback and no help around him. He doesn't deserve to get paid like a top 3 guy, but if you can sign him for 4 years for top 10 money you need to do it.
Sign Albert to a long term deal - So far he has shown that he is a reliable very solid part of our O-line. They should try to get a bit of a discount to sign him for a very long term deal. Let's go 6 years.
Le'Ron McClain - We didn't draft him but I think this is a guy that will be a bargain and we should keep him.
With the space we have in our cap we should front load these long term contracts to free up space for the future.
Estimated Total Cost for 2012 - 8 million
Free Agency
Green-Ellis - Perfect guy to share the load with Charles and shouldn't cost the team too much in cap space.
Eric Winston - This will sure up our RT spot and from what I've read he is an above average player which will make a HUGE difference when compared to the worst lineman in the league.
Shaun Rogers- He isn't Soliai, but he's gonna be a lot cheaper.
Estimated Total Cost for 2012 - 15 million
Draft
First Round - David DeCastro - I don't know why waste a ton of money on Nicks when you could draft this stud.
After that I think they look to D-Line, TE, and ILB, plus some depth.
I would also love to see them pull off a couple trades.
Dorsey or Tyson for Anybody - If we could just somehow get these bloated contracts off our payroll it would free us up to sign Soliai instead of Rogers. They aren't terrible players, but they are overpaid. We could find somebody to fill these spots at the same production for cheaper. If we got a 3rd - 5th for them I say go for it.
Draft picks for TJ Yates - If we could swing a 3rd rounder and maybe a pick next year for this guy I say we need to do it. If nothing else he can be a solid backup... or he could be the Quarterback of the future. Very impressed with this guy in his rookie year.
Alright these are all guesses and I'm not real sure how accurate the salaries would be, but I think this is a good plan. If we did this, our entire Offense would be set for the foreseeable future and our already strong defense would get better for no other reason than Berry and Houston getting another year of experience.
What do you all think?
