My Picks for Free Agency

We all know that free agency starts tomorrow even though it feels like we started years ago with the Manning saga. While Manning I believe is one crafty SOB, I will not even address him because who knows what he is going to do till he actually signs his contract. After studying the draft and free agency the last couple of weeks, here are my picks and why.

QB- Kyle Orton

Not loving the idea, but here's the thing. He's the best out there that isn't named Manning. Pioli promised a battle and well unless Stanzi is taking night classes on how to be a starting NFL QB, Orton is about all that is out there. We know Orton, I won't say any more.

RB- Mike Tolbert

So Tolbert already said he is done in SD. The last "back-up" RB to come out of SD was Darren Sproles, the other, Michael Turner. RBs that come out of SD are good. Tolbert is big, he knows the end zone like it's his summer home and we need that.

WR- We have the killer B's and the rest is just filling in the blanks. Whoever we get, if its anyone, will be filling in the holes.

TE- John Carlson

If he hadn't missed the 2011 season because of a shoulder injury, he would have probably been getting a lot more attention. The guy is 28 and can catch the ball. 137 catches in 3 years and that's what we need on our team for the right price. Oh ya and he's 6'5 and 250 pounds.

OL - Ben Grubbs, 1st round pick RT

I actually like Grubbs more than Nix for a couple of reasons. One, is that he is so solid in the run blocking and second, he doesn't want the most money ever for a guard. The guy can play and the Ravens want to keep him, but with all of their free agents, someone will have to go, and hopefully Grubbs is one of them. The first round pick I believe is taken on a T. I'm thinking Riley Reiff or Jonathan Martin. They put him at RT and develop him to eventually move to the left side.

DE- We have two LSU underachievers that are making a ton of money. Maybe we pick up a guy here or there for depth, not banking on anyone to improve the position.

DT - Paul Soliai

I'm tempted not to put Soliai here just because the last time we were all over Franklin it didn't work out. Soliai makes a lot of sense though and I just have to have some faith that this is our prize FA addition. Maybe this is the missing piece to bring us to the next level on defense.

LB- Jameel McClain

McClain doesn't break the bank and he provides us with some depth and maybe some competition at ILB. Also think Tank Carder in the 3rd rounder if this area isn't addressed during free agency.

Secondary- Abram Elam, 2nd Rd CB

Elam provides some depth at Safety which is needed and CB in the second round. Would love to get Alfonzo Dennard but I think Jayton Hosley has plenty of potential. Plus our last CB from VT worked out alright.
