Reading some of the dread and despair over Manning's sleepover in Denver. He's (allegedly I guess) only been to ONE TEAM. More will come.
Here are some things to feel better about:
1. We don't know he actually slept there, but who cares? They took him to a Nuggets game. Have you ever been wined and dined for your services? Not a bad gig folks, even if, like Gretz suggests, you've got a burr in your side about Elway and Colts history. Still fun to be entertained while thinking "yeah right you horse-faced sonnavabitch, thanks but no thanks, Manning out".
2. Peyton will do his due diligence on this, so look for an encore performance of last night's Denver Mann-cos to go down again in Arizona tonight.
3. There is plenty of time before reported target signing day of Tuesday. Seriously, they have very fast planes (that someone will no doubt try to track) that will get them to the (probably) only 4 cities on their list.
4. There is this sense that because we're not reported front runners in the "big time media" (Walter Football & PFT notwithstanding) that we're officially out of the race. First, Pioli obviously does all of his business out in the open for all to see, right? Yeah. Remember when Fisher was here a few days and gone before anyone even knew? How about The Trade for Cassel and Vrabel? Where were the big boys then? Exactly.
The link above is about RG3 and the ramifications. Therein you'll find a nice little quote from nfl.com saying:
"This blockbuster deal's domino effect will further invigorate the chase of Manning -- Denver, Arizona and Kansas City are front-runners, with Miami in the mix, according to a league source."
Good enough for ya? We'll we've still got Schefter saying we're "very much in the mix" and Florio and Walter putting us in the top landing spot.
Buckle up Chiefs fans (and buck up too while you're at it). The next 2 days are going to be a wild ride (that ends with the beginning of our Super Bowl run!!!).
