I guess Al picked the wrong CB. Who wouldve thunk it?

Oh shit
No he’s too nice and chief like. Fineggan vs bowe every year sounds about right.

"Oakland released cornerback Stanford Routt on Thursday, less than a year after the team gave him a "five-year, $54.5 million" contract. (It was originally a three-year, $31.5 million deal, then the team restructured the deal.)"
Who restructures a deal to be worth more and for longer than the first one?
the same team that turns around and releases said player a year later
gotta love the Raiders: always entertaining

Is this guy worth a look for the Chiefs?

Not at the salary he was making.
The views expressed by craig in calgary do not necessarily represent the views of all Canadians.
On a piss poor defense
They really missed Nnamdi

They gave him the contract and big pay day
Because they thought that since he did well working as the number 2 across from Nnamdi, that he would be just as good as Nnamdi and could become their #1 CB. This year he proved that he wasn’t and will never be what they were hoping for. Routt is a #2 or #3 Corner on a good team who can only play man coverage, part of the reason for his flop of a season was because Oakland started using zone coverages more, and he ran into the same problem Nnamdi is having in Philadelphia, which is he just sucks at it.
In Short, I hope Routt doesn’t end up on the Chiefs, he has no value here. Both Brandons are better.
He was a rather good cover corner, Id even say top 20
The problem is hes not a #1 corner, way to many mental mistakes and very limited in scheme(man-only, their DC would play him in zone)
Hed be a solid #2 with a solid #1 across from him, but definitely not worth the money the Raiders gave him to replace Nnamdi.

I would take him if Carr got kidnapped
Daniels is a backup for a reason and wishing starter status on a 30 year old CB is rather assinine
Crennel loves the Zone to much Steve.
Routt is horrible there.

overpaid and not worth the money.

UPDATE: Routt has visits planned already with Buffalo and Tennessee.

May target a guy in FA
From what Ive heard, next year is a “transition year”. Theyre gonna start dumping bad contracts and are limited draft-wise and Cap-wise.
Sounds like god news for us.

When it comes to the Raiders
god has nothing to do with it. :)
Remember the Raiders are in a major bind with the cap
So it makes sense – they have to do some purging of overpaid players now – so they can have any flexibility for Free Agents, Draft Picks, etc… This is a new admin, and they are going to review which players that they can dump now.
Smart move on their part – cleaning up the mistakes of the prior admin.
