Cap figures
I was reading an article by Don Bans over on SI and he made this statement
"Current cap figures include a couple variables that make pinpointing New York's exact offseason budget difficult -- like teams having the option to carry over available cap room into next season"
Does this mean that the Chiefs could carry over thier "extra" cap space of 15-20 Million to next year or is there a cap on the cap you can carry forward? If not this could make things interesting for FA.

Artice 13 subsection 6 (valuation of player contracts) (v) Carrying Over Room. A Club may “carry over” Room from one League Year to the following League Year by submitting notice in writing signed by the owner to the NFL no later than fourteen (14) days prior to the start of the next League Year indicating the maximum amount of Room that the Club wishes to carry over. The NFL shall promptly provide a copy of any such notice to the NFLPA. The amount of Room carried over will be adjusted downward based on the final Room available after the year-end reconciliation.
Yes they can carry it over.
So it will be interesting to see if they do.
Either Clark or Pioli spoke recently and talked about how they would need that money so if they chose to not carry it forward then I may finally land on the Clark is cheap bandwagon.
Clark confirmed they were going to the other day.

They are going to carry over the cap room?
If so that’s good to hear. That could do a lot in re-signing Bowe & Carr while maintaining room for other free agents.
Predictions:
I'm going to stop predicting positive things
What’s the harm in carrying over? Does your minimum spend amount increase as well? Is there even a meaningful minimum spend amount for next season?

There is no cap floor next season
Or at least not the 95% as there will be coming up

Listened...
If they don’t bring Carr and Bowe back, and we are under the Cap next year, after hearing this, I’ll be even more pissed, b/c I’ll take this interview as a complete lie.
would be great for them to carry over, woudl give more money to pay our guys and maybe get a top FA or two.
I am not a cap strat guy or anything but they could also give the guys roster as opposed to signing bouns this would cause the hit to happen in a specific year (ie 2012) as opposed to being spread out over the life of the contract. The down fall to this is the Michael Vick scenario where they cant recoup money for a player doing something dumb.
Roster bonuses prorate, too
They just only prorate over how ever many years the contract has remaining. For example, Manning got a $20M signing bonus last year, which prorates over the entire five year deal at $4M per year. If they give him the $28M roster bonus on March 8 and keep him, that will prorate over the remaining four years of the deal at $7M per year. So his cap number for any given year will be his salary for that year plus $11M in bonus proration.
sooner or later, God'll cut you down...
This really got me thinking, and I put some numbers together on a FanPost
Take a look and tell me if I’m doing the math right…if so…HOLY CRAP! Thanks vplus10 for posting this.
