Has anyone actually looked at Jamaal Charles' stats?
Me and a Raider fan got into a rather heated debate so I pulled these stats out on him: Jamaal Charles: 499 attempts, 3,027 yards, 6.1 average, 12 TDs Darren McFadden: 553 attempts, 2,627 yards, 4.8 average, 16 TDs Rather impressive for a guy that splits carries and is one of the most underrated backs in the league.

He has the highest career average of any running back ever.
(that carried the ball more than 200 or so times)
i dont care if he splits carries
He keeps these stats up and he should be mentioned as one of the GOAT

He will never be mentioned as a GOAT
No way Charles keeps that kind of pace up for as long as it would be needed

Why?
That’s like saying you can’t be a GOAT receiver if you’re splitting pass receptions with other receivers.
Predictions:
I'm going to stop predicting positive things
That makes no sense.
No team uses only one receiver, but teams with great backs use those backs all the time, unless they need a blow. You think Jim Brown or Barry Sanders would be splitting carries with Thomas Jones?
Okay.
But whether or not it’s his fault, until he’s the guy for multiple years, he can hardly be considered in a GOAT discussion.
as you say below
Defenses are bigger. And now many teams use multiple backs because it proves more effective. Good chance splitting carries will extend his career. Just as it would with any RB

Barry Sanders - 5.0, Jim Brown - 5.2
If Charles can pass 10,000 career yards & maintain an average close to 5.0ypc he deserves consideration as one of the best ever.

I'm going to stop predicting positive things
Some don't even consider him top 5 now
I consider him trailing the greats right now and only cause he got hurt. He can be great.. There’s no doubt about that. He just needs 4+ years and i don’t think he’ll make it being so small.

Someone forgot to mention that to Barry Sanders....
You know Barry was only 5’8’’ 203 when he played, right? Jamaal plays at 5’11’’ 199ish, is what his current profile states… Im sorry but 4lbs isn’t a big enough difference to change a career length. Also, back when Barry played, the players weren’t as protected as they are now…
Is JC Jesus Christ or Jamaal Charles? I think they both will be our savior.

Counter.
Defenses are a lot bigger and faster now than they were in Barry’s days. Also, there is more to durability than simply height and weight.
Don't forget, you are able to pack more muscle on a body that is shorter, making the player stouter
Like Ray Rice/MJD are now. 4lbs aint a lot but when its spred over 3 inches.. yeah it makes a big difference

Tarkus
We agree on a lot.. But this is ludicrous. Priest Holmes… I love the man. Couldn’t win the starting job in Baltimore. And then ran behind one of the great offensive lines of the last 20 years. He will always be a Chiefs great, but that line made Derrick Blaylock look like a 1000 yard rusher also.
He actually did win the starting job in Baltimore.
And he did very well while starting. They wanted to go with more of a power game, so they drafted Jamal Lewis. And they weren’t going to play their UDFA over their fifth overall draft pick.
Was Len Dawson no good because he couldn’t win a starting job in Pittsburgh, and Favre no good, because he couldn’t win a starting job in Atlanta? Ludicrous is a good word.
Umm
Yea, I dont really know what to say to this other then you are wrong. Go back a watch some film on Holmes and watch his ability to make people miss, his speed, his vision on the field, his ability to gain YAC and to be honest this list could go on for a while. He did not just run between the tackels. His presense in the back field alone made the passing game with sub par recievers even possible. (thats not a knock on my man Kennison)
**Heres to 5 err 4 more years of JC!!!!**
I should have been more specific. I couldnt win it from Lewis. And I would not consider Holmes a speed back so it appears he lost out to a fellow power back.
This isn’t about Len Dawson either. Holmes benefited from a great situation in KC. That gave him a new lease on his career and he made the most of it. Charles, in my opinion, is far better and has done it largely with a much weaker OL.
Holmes was not a power back
A shifty back who had the speed to break runs
