Daboll is the Failed Haley
Per Mike Silver via PFT: Daboll Screaming at Colt McCoy
Wow. This sure seems like a fantastic hire.
"There were times I had to pull my helmet off to call a play in the huddle," McCoy told Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports. "Guys could hear him yelling, and they’d say, ‘Just take it off.’ People said to me, ‘Man, I ain’t never seen anything like that. Just hang in there.’"
Worse record as an OC, career mediocrity, and he berates his players as much, if not more than, Haley did.
The abuse McCoy took from Daboll and the Browns coaching staff apparently became a running joke among Browns players. But McCoy said he took the constant yelling personally.
Bravo, Pioli.
This is pathetic. It's the convergence of the Patriots/Parcells/Browns tree in an incest laden time flux.
The Chiefs, from ownership through front office, are truly saddening as a fan. The management of the team has been disgraceful, even more so, since we have so many good pieces in place...only one of them from this regime is proven through 3 drafts (Berry), and two other key pieces (Carr, Bowe) may not be re-signed.
Then we get a Daboll OC hire leak near midnight on a Friday night of Super Bowl weekend. Fantastic. Good to see the new PR hire working his magic and making things better with the soft release.
Yes, I'm pissy about this. Leave me alone. :P

LoL
Yeah and I’m sure Pioli purposely picked Daboll for all those reasons. If we all knew as much as we think we know we would be working for the team. Yeah his record sucks … look at the teams he was working with. McCoy was a rookie … and a bit of a sensitive one if you ask me. Plus he did well in Miami last year. Just relax… everything will be alright!

I'm open
To anyone pointing out the good reasons why Daboll was hired. His resume certainly doesn’t provide much.

Colt McCoy, Derek Anderson, and Matt Moore have looked like legit NFL starters under him
not to mention he unlocked Reggie Bush. We have one of those, the names McCluster

Greened
He lost Pennington, Henne, and Ronnie Brown and didn’t have an offseason with the Dolphins.
And Brandon Marshall praised him.
He’s also the main reason why Peyton Hillis got the Madden Cover last year and then had nothing this year.
McCoy looked horrible this season …. Browns should have kept him.

no offseason is an excuse?
bring back Haley … come on, Scott, you know better
Brandon Marshall praised Daboll … ok, Steve Breaston praised Haley, bring him back
seriously, you’re reaching for weak props for your guy Daboll …
biggest thing here, Scott, is if Cassel is the guy the team has to rely on we’re in trouble … please do the right thing and get Orton back, and make it happen with Bowe and Carr (which SHOULD have been done LAST year!)

LOL....I guess the locker room needs a screamer
Needed someone to fill the silence….it gets eerie in the QB’s helmet without someone screaming in it.

Lord I hope you are right
Wish we could better understand why Saunders was not selected or didn’t accept if he was offered. Still not sure why the faiders would let him go after the progress he made there last year – or was it Jackson? Many say his success in Stl and KC was due to Vermeil. I am very cautiously hopeful at this point.
EXTREMELY Dissapointed.
This shows that no one wants to come here for whatever reason. Why would we wait all this time to sign a coach who was available quite a while ago. Seems to me they asked a lot of coaches but none wanted to come here so Pioli got the scraps that were left. Highest ranked offense he’s ever run has been 20th. Once again KC will be settling for mediocre at best
KC Draft prediction: No OT taken in first round
I don't totally disagree...but just want to point out Daboll wasn't available a long time ago. He's been under contract until pretty much now with Miami.
If you look at his Cleveland offenses, this is a shitacular hire….I was impressed with his work with the Fish, though. Daboll and his staff got major mileage out of Reggie Bush, made Matt Moore look competent, and even got Brian Hartline to turn into a #2 receiver for Marshall and Bess.
I’m not wowed either (I wanted Saunders), but let’s not assume that this is the end of the world, either.

I'm good with the hire
I wanted Saunders but I think the Raiders were/are playing games to keep him away from KC.

No way they'd just "let" him out of his contract to come here, to a hated division rival.
I was surprised at how open they were about him, too….

Yeah, I like Saunders a lot
but he’s close to retirement, it’s probably better to go with an up-and-coming coach (hopefully).

Yeah, there's a successful one?
Oh yeah, his father.

He wasnt like this in Miami
In fact he was complimented on his motivational skills, maybe hes learned from his mistakes. But wait a minute that cant be possible, nobody learns from their mistakes at a young age after their first major gig so I guess ill get my riot gear ready.
Me and Matt Cassel just - you up, dog!

I really hated this hire when I read about it last night. Not so much the case today.
You hit on something that I really liked: that maybe he learned from his mistakes. And at age 36, there’s still plenty of room for him to grow as a coach. Hell, I learned last night to not judge a book by its cover.

*Dear David Glass, as a lifelong Royals fan, I beg you to please sell the team. You have always been the problem; you will never be the solution.
So sick of people being negative about every Chiefs move
just give the guy at least ONE season before we start judging him! Personnel plays a big part of how his offenses will rank, so I don’t put any stock in those Cleveland rankings. This is a new team and a fresh start for everyone, so let’s welcome him to KC like real Chiefs fans!
if Manning ok'd the hire, i'm fine with it.

Let's see.
In 2010, Weis chewed Cassel’s ass, and he had his best year. In 2011, Haley coddled him and he was terrible. If Cassel is the guy again, maybe a good ass-chewing is what he needs.

Yeah, and also remember the Colts game? Haley flipped out on Cassel, they got in an argument...
Then Cassel threw 4 TD passes.

Isn’t this the same guy who put together a game plan to bust our D open this past year? Oh yea, he did.

Rec'd
Seeing How RAC is the one putting together his staff, I don’t see why everyone is flipping on Pioli.
RAC got it HANDED to him that game, with a mediocre QB and RB looking like studs. That must’ve been quite the audition in RAC’s eyes.
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.

Colt McCoy is a pussy
He has been since college. Do you not remember his daddy whining after the Championship game that McCoy pussied out in that people should stop being mean to his son?
Daboll is a good coach. Once Sparano was fired and the reins were handed over to Daboll to call his offense they thrived. I am very encourage with what he did with Reggie Bush and Matt Moore. He has shown the ability to make that chicken salad that the previous regime was not ready to do.

WRONG!
The Dolphins were on the upswing weeks before Sparano was fired.

My biggest fear
Is that with the Daboll hire, it seems pretty obvious that the Cassel experiment will continue.
Ancora imparo.
no it doesn't.
I was once fired from a job two days after I waited on Matt Cassel and his wife Lauren Killian. Totally my AP moment to remember. Unfortunately also one of my stupidest moments.

Why is Pioli getting blamed for this hire?
Am I totally missing something here? Pioli said in an interview a few weeks ago that the new OC was going to be selected by Crennel and that it was important that the HC puts his own staff together.
Pioli hired Crennel.
So, anything Crennel does (or doesn’t do) is all Pioli’s fault…man, get with it already.
This needs a poll. I have an idea.
How are the Chiefs?
A) Pathetic
B) Saddening
C) Disgraceful
Not surprisingly, it ended in a three way tie.
Good job guys. Way to root for your favorite football team.
