Top 5 reasons Peyton comes to KC
Top 5 reasons KC appeals to Peyton:
1. Scott Pioli. He's easily regarded as one of the top personnel men in the NFL. The man who helped build Peyton's biggest rival, the Patriots, has spent the last three years building a Championship roster in KC. He's just looking for that Championship QB. Scott sure does look happy to see him here...
Peyton: "I don't know Scott, my back hurts"
Scott: "How about 30 million dollars?"
Peyton: "Oh damn, actually, I feel pretty good. Y'all got good barbecue, right?"
2. Fan base. If Peyton is donning Chiefs red next season, Arrowhead will have its highest attendance total in 15 years. Nearby Richter scales will be out of service on Sundays. Empty seats will be rarer than a sincere fart in church.

3. Romeo Crennel. If there are any defenses that Peyton has struggled against, it's Crennel's. The 2010 game against the Chiefs, Peyton had 0 TD's and 1 Int. It's a good bet that Peyton has an enormous amount of respect for Crennel.

4. Eric Berry. Peyton worked out with Berry when he was coming out of college. Two of the best Volunteers of all time could both lead their respective sides of the ball at an All-pro level. When QB's break down film, you best believe they spend the majority of their time on the DB's.
5. Targets. I won't compile the list. OK, yes I will because it's great to remind myself of the offensive playmakers on the Chiefs roster. Bowe, Baldwin, Breaston, Tony M., Charles, and McCluster equate to match up nightmares for an opposing defense.

I was once fired from a job two days after I waited on Matt Cassel and his wife Lauren Killian. Totally my AP moment to remember. Unfortunately also one of my stupidest moments.
ha, great job (even though I disagree with the premise) and a fun read ... esp the top photo
5 reasons? should 30 million reasons ;-)

Not to mention that The west is wide open for the taking and he will be able to play against the colts next year :)
" The world is Yours"
And they are coming to Arrowhead...
which is the perfect dynamic. He can get revenge without alienating himself from his fans, like what happened when Favre when to the Vikings. Thank god the Texans are Colts division rivals and are in salary cap hell (w/ 3 big contracts up in Williams, Myers, and Foster), because I think they are the only team that can offer Manning everything we can offer him, in terms of weapons and road to the Super Bowl.
Irsay won't do anything for another month,
so as long as Manning is under contract, it’s all speculation. Peyton is in the catbird seat, and if it’s money he’s after, KC will have a tough time securing his services with the number of teams who will be bidding for him.
These are all good reasons—and having the best fans in the NFL would be another—but getting Manning to come to the Chiefs is still about as hopeful as winning the lottery.
All that said, my stance is, “Pioli, get your ass in there and negotiate!”

We have the best cap scenario.

of course, he CAN'T negotiate until Manning is actually a Free Agent

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
money counts certainly
but that’s not what Manning is coming back for. It is Superbowls. He will look to the team that gives him the best chance.
CHIEFS DYNASTY – we’re kind of a big deal
If Manning comes to KC there will only be one reason.
Hunt told Pioli to start filling seats…and now!
If it wasn’t for the accursed paycheck, would I really imprison myself in this dungeon of the human soul?

But I thought Hunt told him not to spend any money.
Pioli must be confused by this conflict.

That would be the appeal for any team trying to sign Manning.
Ticket sales would go up immediately.

I don't personally want Manning in KC, but great post!
All valid reasons, and it would be fun to see what Peyton could do with our playmakers. Regardless of where he ends up, I definitely want to see him play again.

just think if you get peyton you fill a need you wont have to use draft picks on.
cut cassell cause he is a waste of money and space not even worth the backup role we have stanzi, use the draft picks to load up on offensive line. superbowl favorites.

5 Reason's he won't
1 Neck = Fucked
2 he’s 36
3 he’d dick up our salary cap
4 short sighted move
5 could get RG3 for similar cost
???
1. Neck = cleared to play as of yesterday, only issue is his nerve regeneration and all signs point to up.
2. He’s 36. Other traits Manning has: 4 time NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion, considered to most cerebral player at his position, meaning his talent is more than physical traits.
3. Our salary cap is situation is fine, he would sign a short term contract and be off the books in no time, the risk of dead money would be minimal.
4. Short sighted move or logical one? Our team is ready made for a championship NOW! I would rather have a veteran under center than a rookie who will take 2 to 3 seasons to get up to snuff while talent elsewhere on the team dissipates during our window.
5. Yeah, we could get RGIII for our 2012, 2013 1st rounders along with an assortment of mid to late round picks, that or Dwayne Bowe. Or, we could sign Manning and keep all those draft picks, killing two birds with one stone.
We're on the same page Crown.
I’m not saying that it’s either Manning or bust. I just thought their were some interesting reasons why he would come to KC, besides the offensive players he would have. When i hear about people discussing where he will end up, outside of Indy, they often only mention the WRs and TEs he will be throwing to. I think that is a valid argument, but not the only consideration.

Our division is as attactive as anything else
The only team that can compete with us on that front is the 49ers. But, we have the better conference layout. The NFC is much more top heavy, especially with the Steelers getting older. Just look at the NFC north and east. The Packers and Giants are built for championships, while the Eagles, Cowboys, Bears, and Lions could take over other divisions in the league. Not to mention the Saints who are probably a top 5 team in the league. If Manning comes to KC there would be 4 power houses in the AFC with the Patriots, Texans, and Ravens respectfully. And besides Brady, Manning is head and shoulders above Flacco and Scaub.
Good points.
Someone mentioned the AFC West as a reason above. Something i forgot to consider, but another solid reason.

just a thought, not a want
If Manning were to go to SanFran, woulf Smith be a consideration? Seems to me the guy is finally coming into his own the way Brees did. Not going there but still, something to ponder
good question ... is Smith Free Agent this year?
then too, even if he is … would Niners let him get away, doubtful

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
Yes...
Smith is an unrestricted free agent. If Manning does sign with San Fran, which is the only team that can compete outside of KC IMHO, then Smith is going elsewhere. I think Smith being a free agent helps our cause considering Manning will probably not be 100% even if he is progressing until April, in fact I could see him waiting til after the draft to sign. This could help KC in the fact that San Fran will have to make a decision on Smith prior putting pressure on them. If they lose Smith AND Manning, then they are due for a major regression, especially if Smith signs with a division rival.
my guess is Harbaugh would prefer to keep Smith ... we'll see how things play out

Totally agree.
It would be a strange message to send to a team that is succeeding.

If I was Pioli...
then that would be my plan B. The only dark horse I can think of that could come in and make a bid for Manning is the Texans. They would have to creatively come up with the cap space, but if they sign Manning, Smith goes back to San Fran, Flynn to Miami, and Orton to Washington the Chiefs are shit out of luck. That would be the doomsday scenario for this offseason in my opinion because there will be no answer in the draft, at least short term, and there wouldn’t be another QB in FA that could help us.

I Say.....
Sign Manning to a 2 or 3 year deal, allow him to come in and teach Ricky Stanzi the ins and outs of being an NFL QB. I’m not saying Manning is the end all/be all to QBs but he’s the most logical option out there. Here is a simple equation…Peyton Manning wanting to win now + The Chiefs ready made offense who’s missing a veteran signal caller to match the playoff caliber defense = Superbowl/Asses in Seats/Ticket Sales…Manning would take us to 2 maybe 3 Superbowl’s with the roster we have. Once he retires Stanzi will be ready to step in to take over the main job then we draft a QB that year to study behind him….It’s possible.
Manning's never been known as a "teacher" or "mentor" type ...
supposedly he insists on taking all first-team snaps in practice, every time, all the time … not the best way to help develop a young QB

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
perhaps this season has taught him a lesson about having a backup who can play?
maybe at his “old” age, he’s decided to become team-centered….
did you just laugh there?

nice post
I do think that IF Peyton is released and IF he’s in condition to play, he’d consider KC as a great possible place to play. That’s a ton of IF’s though.
