Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel is in the news this morning after he commented over the weekend on Peyton Manning, who is still under contract with the Indianapolis Colts. Some are wondering whether Crennel's comments constitute tampering.
A story on CBSSports.com cites an NFL spokesperson who says:
However, an NFL spokesperson told CBSSports.com that the league would not consider what Crennel said tampering.
Asked for a clarification this morning, an NFL spokesperson said that's not exactly right. The league doesn't comment at all on speculation regarding tampering, the spokesperson said.
So the league isn't saying the Chiefs are innocent. But they're also not saying they're guilty.
