It's more than money. It's family and geography. Climate and friendship. It's culture and cuisine. You guys have a tendency to assume that player's pick teams in free agency solely on the basis of money. However, you have neglected the importance of other factors.
Let's take a look at what some of these could be and how they could affect the Chefs' upcoming decisions.
1. Brandon Carr -- Perhaps the Michigan native would like to return to his home state and play for former Chiefs DC Gunther Cunningham. Why not return to an up-and-coming team that is starting to regain national attention. The addition of a native sun would only bolster a somewhat nameless Lions secondary.
2. Dwayne Bowe -- The Chiefs picked four selections in front of the New Orleans Saints. Perhaps the LSU product would like to return to the Pelican State and catch from an All-Pro QB (save that Drew Brees resigns with New Orleans but let's be real). The Saints WR Corp could let Marques Colston go for the more durable Dwayne Bowe without seeing any serious drop in production.
3. Wallace Gilberry -- If he loses the extra mass he gained in order to play the 3-4 and gets back down to about 270 lbs., he could return to a 4-3 rotation and play passing downs from the Strong Side DE.
Just realize there's more to free agency than just money. Its an amalgamation of factors that we'll never completely comprehend.
