Poll: Which mock would you take?
When free agency starts the Chiefs know they have to makes some big moves. They should start off by keeping Carr, Bowe, McClain and a few others on the team. They will then go out and pick up Paul Soliai to play NT, Demetrius Bell to play RT and Calais Campbell to play DE. Because they are able to pick up Campbell they decide to trade Dorsey to 4-3 team. The Rams offer their 3rd round and the Chiefs accept.
The Chiefs now turn to the draft to fill in the rest of the team needs. The Chiefs have a few roads they can go down this year, each will dictate the direction this team goes. Do we go after a QB of the future or settle for mediocre play from Orton or Cassel? Do we fill in other holes and hope our defensive can keep us in games? This year’s free agency and draft will be a important one in shaping the Chiefs future.
After looking over each mock, pick your favorite you think would help the Chiefs the most in the long run.

I'm on "edge" about these, but you've done "sharp" work, truly some "cutting edge" stuff here and ... who am I kidding? DeCastro all the way! (great stuff btw)

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
I like mock 1 the best because of DeCastro.
But I would like a more… workhorse like back than Pead. Someone’s gonna have to compliment Jamaal.

mock 1
DeCastro, Fleener, and Pead! !!!!!
Plus depth at both safety positions.
I would love these picks.
Look out for the CHIEFS in 2012!!!!!!
I really Like mock 1,
although I would kinda like to see Zebrie Sanders in there…

If we get that kind of deal for RG3
I say we go with him especially after resigning Bowe and Carr.
I Agree With The Second Option In The Poll
We need a thunder and lightning combination at the running back position and Trent Richardson could very well combine with Jamal Charles and give us one of the best if no0t the best quarterback duo in the NFL.
I like Cordy Glenn’ s versatility but i seriously doubt he’ll be available in the second round, he’s an elite talent and make a strong impact at the Senior Bowl.
But for the most part in terms of the the 1st 2 picks i agree, the last 5 need improvement, i think they should take Nick Foles in the 3rd Round and the rest should be offensive and defensive linemen, with a kick returner/wr/rb in the last round.

Except thunder and lightning is old
Best option is 2 of the same type of backs.. Charles with Miller would be one hell of a combo

Lamar Miller
Bigger back with break away speed, able to break a lot of the arm tackles and go through DBs that Jamaal can’t. Pretty much have 2 RBs with blazing speed, that way the defense can not stack the box against a slower RB like Jones

... except that they're both running backs, but good guess there!

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
Gotta go 3 here
Getting Bell for RT, Zeitler can learn under Lilja for a few games/this year. Oline should be better, go get the franchise QB, especially when the deal is not that bad to move up and get him

I like the start of 1 with the end of 3.
Unfortunately theres no way antonio Allen or Markelle Martin are available that late on draft day.
"Give them nothing! But take from them everything!"
I really like 1...
but 2 or 3 wouldn’t make me unhappy either. Nice work.
I'd have to go with 3
That kind of deal for the number 2 pick and RG3 would be impossible to pass up.
Other holes on the team can be filled via FA. QB can’t (unless Manning is ready to go)
I love my wife, my kids, and the Chiefs. In that order. Except on game days.

agreed but I doubt trading up for RG III will be that cheap
So I think #1 would be the real option.
Agreed
I don’t see us getting that pick under any circumstance. I think CLE trades up for it, and we just can’t compete with the number four pick plus another first rounder THIS year.

I went with #3 IF we don't get Manning.
We are quarterback starved.
Number One
Just need to substitute a CB for one of the two 3rd rounders.
Don’t know if even WE have enough cap room to do market FA contracts with
Bowe
Carr
Soliai
Bell
Campbell
But if we do then Pioli is Executive of the year
As I said in a previous response, this is Cassel" cheapest salary year under the contract and presumably for Cap Space, too. If he does not shine with all this talent added around him, then we can do a Ricky Williams type trade next year and get the Franchise QB as there should be 2-4 of them next year.
And save a bunch of cap space!
Cassel's glow burned out long ago.
Time for him to go.
I'd be thrilled with any of the options given.
- would require about five 3rd round picks.
- would reqire two 1sts and two 2nds and maybe two 3rds.
- would require more luck, creativity and willingness to gamble than we have seen to date.
More realistic might be:
- DeCastro/OG/Stan
- Sanders/OT FlSt
- Allen /SS/SC
- Egnew/TE/MO
- Ganaway/RB/Baylor
- Baptiste/NT/Baylor
- Vlachos/OC/Al
- Lynn/CB/PSU
I’d rather see a trade back to get extra 2nd and / or 3rd round picks.
- Cordy Glenn OG/OT (GA)
- Sanders OT (Fl St)
- Fleener TE (Stan)
- Iloka FS/SS (Boise)
- Gilmore CB (SC)
- Reyes DT (UConn)
- Ganaway RB (Baylor or RB Ballard (Ms St)
- Bequette DE (Ark)
- Vlachos OC (AL)
- Lynn CB (PSU)

I like your first the best, but either one looks fantastic
2012 Goal: Be invited to Lady Buttercup's spring ball.
2012 Resolution: To establish a better cravat collection than anyone else on AP.
2012 Wish: Chiefs Super Bowl
Post failed. Should have been Fleener and Sanders in 2nd then Iloka and Gilmore in 3rd.

yeah, lotta rounds in that draft, Cat ;-)

hi, Mo! 5 minutes!!!
Does anyone know much about Polk, Wilson or Martin?
Trent Richardson, RB Alabama Height: 5-11 Weight: 220 40 Time: 4.49
Lamar Miller, RB Miami Height: 5-11 Weight: 212 40 Time: 4.46
Chris Polk, RB Washington Height: 5-11 Weight: 222 40 Time: 4.46
David Wilson, RB, Virginia Tech Height: 5-11 Weight: 222 40 Time: 4.45
LaMichael James, RB Oregon Height: 5-9 Weight: 185 40 Time: 4.38
Doug Martin, RB Boise State Height: 5-9 Weight: 215 40 Time: 4.46
Bernard Pierce, RB Temple Height: 6-0 Weight: 217 40 Time: 4.51
Isaiah Pead, RB Cincinnati Height: 5-10 Weight: 200 40 Time: 4.41
Polk had a lot of carries in college career, reminds me of T Jones in his prime. A lot of 10+ yard carries.
Wilson is a sexy pick of top RBs. Less of a resume more of a mystery. Speed and elusive and strong enough to break tackles.
Martin is my favorite that may slip to 3rd round but most likely not to the 4th. Bowling Ball type runner. Hard to hit solidly ala Jones -Drew.

I went 3, Im all in for a franchise QB. We can address the Oline in FA by landing Nicks.
" The world is Yours"
I took 3 aswell
I think if we could maybe mix and match a little it’d be great! I like Broyles at 172. I think Any of Martin, Antonio Allen or Hosely at 67 or 75 would be great (preferably keeping Carr we get a safety for depth). Making a strong play for Nicks or Grubbs in FA. I like Dakota as a flier at the end also. All that and we still land Robert Griffin III. Don’t forget there is always (i know he is a huge piece of our offense) making Bowe apart of the deal to St. Louis. Getting a top teir WR solves a lot of their problems. It’s like giving them at LEAST a mid first rounder.
if we get RG3
the draft is a generational success. we could take the 7 dwarfs with the rest of out picks.
3,1,2
that’s my order I hope we take a chance and go after RG3 but don’t think we will so I’d say number 1
