After reading MtHammers post on AP's predictions for the 2011 season (great post, IO recommend it if you haven't read it yet) I thought I'd make some 2012 season predictions of my own. These are going to be some pretty bold predictions, but I will stand behind them for the next full year! Going into this, I am assuming that Dwayne Bowe and Brandon Carr remain on the roster, and Kyle Orton will be the Quarterback. It's fairly unlikely that that may not even happen, but let's just go along with it! Here we go!
1) Dwayne Bowe will break his career TD Record with over 15 TD's-
Bowe is the Chiefs best receiver and will be going into 2012, and he is due to have another huge year. With good Quarterback play, he earned himself a trip to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii with 15 touchdowns and a boatload of yards. So, with good QB play from Kyle Orton, Bowe will have another huge year, and break his career touchdown record, of 15, and show why he deserves the money he will be payed.
2) Eric Berry will get an invite to the 2012 Pro Bowl-
Eric Berry, the Chiefs starting Strong Safety had a great rookie year, but went down with a season ending injury on week 1 of the 2011 season. I'm predicting that Berry will bounce back very strong with his true, breakout season, and earn himself a trip to the Pro Bowl. And if I may add, this will just be the beginning of a terrific, memorable career for Eric Berry.
3) Jamaal Charles Will be the AFC Rushing leader in yards-
Like Berry, Charles went down also with an ACL injury on week 2 of the 2011 season. The year before, Charles won the FedEx Ground Player of The Year award, and earned himself the title of one of the best RB's in the NFL. He won't be slept on because of his injury, but it won't matter. Jamaal Charles will lead the AFC in rushing yards.
4) The Chiefs Will Be the AFC Champions-

Although the Chiefs had season ending injuries to our starting QB, RB, SS, and TE, the Chiefs still held a 7-9 record, just one game away from winning the embarresing, AFC West, With a fairly healthy roster, a good Free Agency, Draft, and a fresh start Head Coach, the Chiefs will win the AFc West, by a good amount. I have the Broncos and Raiders both struggling, and the Chargers having a good year, but n ot as good as the Chiefs. The Chiefs WILL be the 2012 AFC West Champions, and that is the truth!
5) Kendrick Lewis will emerge as a top tier starting safety in the NFL-
This prediction will depend on certain peoples opinions on Kendrick Lewis by the end of next season, but I see him having a great season, and emerging as a top tier starting safety. This past season, Lewis was consistently good, but I think he will be consistently much better.
6) Jonathan Baldwin will improve to a good, physical WR-
When I say a "good" Receiver, I mean good, not great. I see Baldwin having a good year, let's say 60 receptions, 700 yards? I think he will develop into a great WR, but not next year. He's going to be a late bloomer. He'll still give the Chiefs a good triple duo at the Wideout position, but he'll still have some room to improve.
7) Tyson Jackson's Production Will Decline, and will only share time at the position-
When the Chiefs drafted Tyson Jackson with the no. 3 overall pick in the 2008 draft, he was supposed to make an immediate impact. Although he has been slowly, and not surely, improving, to me it has not been enough. He had a decent year in 2011, but I see his production going on the decline next year. Allen Bailey, the chiefs 2nd year DE will then share time with Jackson, and eventually take his starting job. I hate to say this, because I always had a soft spot for Tyson, but I think next year may be his last year as a Chief.
8) Kyle Orton Will Look Like The Answer For The Chiefs-

Kyle Orton may not be a Chief next year, and although I'd rather be predicting something about Peyton Manning, I don't think that'd be too realistic. Orton had a very convincing last (first for him!) 3 games as a Chief, going 2-1 and defeating the then, undefeated Green Bay Packers. With Charles back, giving him a good running game, and having time to connect with his receivers, Orton will look like the answer as the Chiefs QB after the 2012-2013 season.
9) The Chiefs Will Finish the 2012-2013 With an 11-5 Record-
My prediction, is that the Chiefs will Struggle on the Road in the regular season, but Still finish with an AFC West Championship, and an 11-5 record. That is definitely a plus, considering the Chiefs got blown out way too much in 2011, and were only 7-9 at the end. An 11-5 record won't earn KC a Playoff Bye, but a Playoff Berth will be alright for me! And that's what I can see happening.
10) The Kansas City Chiefs Will Win Their First Playoff Game in 18 Years!-

Yes! We Win a playoff Game! Yes!!!!! I have the Chiefs finishing at 11-5. I can see the Chiefs playing in the Wild Card weekend round of the Playoffs, and then winning 2 games, and going to the AFC Championship. It'd be way too much of a longshot to say we'd make it to a Super Bowl in the Blink of an eye, but Let's not go that far. I think 2012, will be the start of something real nice for Kansas City, and the fans too. The season will definitely be a good one if we make it this far, or even win a playoff game, and I can see it happening.
Some of these are true long shots, but I truly believe in every single one of these predictions I just made. You should Comment with your thoughts, and your own predictions! Go Chiefs!
